SwiftCharge customer policy

Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 | Effective 10 October 2026 | South Africa

ChargeNow (Pty) Ltd, trading as SwiftCharge (“SwiftCharge”, “we”, “our”), respects your privacy. This Policy explains how personal information is handled when you use our website, driver app or portal, EV charging network, wallets, NFC or QR access and customer support services.

1. Responsible party and contact

ChargeNow (Pty) Ltd t/a SwiftCharge, registration number 2026/652907/07, 15 Blyderivier, Cashan X4, Rustenburg, North West, 0300, South Africa. Email: charge@swiftcharge.co.za. Telephone: 087 148 9896. Contact us at this email for privacy requests and to reach the person responsible for privacy compliance.

2. Information we collect

We collect information directly from you, your device, chargers and sites, and payment or communications providers involved in a service you request. We do not require unnecessary sensitive personal information to use ordinary charging services.

3. Why we use information

We process information to create and secure accounts; locate and operate EV chargers; authorise, start, monitor and end charging sessions; calculate charging costs; operate prepaid wallets and payment processing; send confirmations and invoices; troubleshoot equipment; provide customer support; detect misuse or fraud; comply with tax, accounting and other legal obligations; and improve service reliability. Where required, we obtain consent, including for optional marketing or device location permissions.

4. Location and permissions

Location access is used to assist with charger discovery and navigation where you permit it. You can deny or revoke device location permission in your device settings. Some nearby-charger functions may then be limited; other functions may still work by manually searching for a location. Camera permission, when requested, is for scanning charging QR codes. We do not claim to collect background location unless that function is expressly implemented, disclosed and authorised.

5. Payments and wallet information

Payment partners may receive the data required to process a transaction and apply their own privacy notices. SwiftCharge maintains wallet balances, top-up records, charging transactions and invoices. We do not intentionally store complete payment-card numbers or card security codes on SwiftCharge systems where card entry is hosted by a payment provider. Your wallet or Tokens are governed separately by our Terms & Refund Policy.

6. Who may receive information

Information may be shared as necessary with contracted hosting, IT, payment, messaging and support providers; charger operators or site hosts where operational or settlement reporting requires it; professional advisers; and public authorities where legally required. Access is restricted according to business need and appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

7. International transfers

Some service providers or systems may process or store information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure a lawful transfer and suitable protection consistent with POPIA.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. These may include access restrictions, secure connections, authentication, monitoring and backups. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised account access.

9. Retention and deletion

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the services described, security, dispute resolution, applicable legal requirements and financial records. You may request account deletion or deletion of personal information by emailing charge@swiftcharge.co.za. We will verify your identity and respond in accordance with POPIA. We may be required to retain some invoices, payment records, transaction logs or security records for lawful purposes even after closing an account.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold information about you, request access or correction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, request deletion where permitted, and raise a complaint. To make a request, contact us using the details above. You may also contact the Information Regulator (South Africa).

11. Communications and marketing

We may send necessary account, payment, charging, support and security messages. Optional marketing communications are subject to applicable consent and opt-out rules. You can unsubscribe using any supplied option or contact us to change your preferences.

12. Children

SwiftCharge's charging services are intended for eligible users of driving age and are not designed for children. If we become aware of personal information collected inappropriately from a child, we will review and address it in accordance with law.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy if our services, practices or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version with its effective date and provide additional notice where legally required.
